House Speaker Mike Johnson Refuses to Swear in Newly Elected Arizona Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva

Adelita Grijalva, the daughter of the late Congressman Raul Grijalva, was elected to the House of Representatives on September 23 in a special election, but has not yet been sworn into office. Grijalva, a Democrat, contends that House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican, is playing partisan politics, whereas Johnson says it is due to the government shutdown.

Johnson has repeatedly stated this aligns with historical precedent, such as actions by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi during similar recesses, and that he swore in two Florida Republican winners earlier in 2025 as a "unique exception" due to their families' travel to Washington D.C. He said Grijalva should focus instead on informal constituent services in the meantime.

Grijalva said in a Nov. 6 op-ed for USA Today that she felt the reason was something else, “I would be the decisive 218th signature on a discharge petition to force a vote on releasing all files related to Jeffrey Epstein, a onetime friend of President Donald Trump.” She told The New York Times that Johnson was “very patronizing and misogynistic” in his responses.

We Solve Critical Issues Like No Other Media in America

Issue: PARTISAN NEWS AND A DIVIDED NATION

Seventy-two percent of Americans* believe that “traditional major news sources report news they know to be fake, false, or purposely misleading.” The spread of false information and personal attacks has increased tensions between Americans and has further divided our nation. Source: Axios and SurveyMonkey poll, June 2018

Solution: We are independent of any political party. Using our fact-based and truthful reporting, we seek to focus on what unites us as Americans, rather than what divides us.

Issue: CENSORSHIP

Corporate media and big tech are choosing the winners and losers in today’s public square. They sideline and demonetize important stories that don’t fit their narrative to ensure they’re hidden from the general public.

Solution: We are an independent publication that doesn’t answer to any parent corporation. The majority of our funding comes through subscriptions from everyday Americans like you, giving us the freedom to pursue the stories outside of the corporate media narrative.

  • The Trump administration must pay the approximately $9 billion to fully fund food stamps for November, a federal judge ruled on Nov. 6.

  • The Trump administration then asked the U.S. Supreme Court late on Nov. 7 to halt a judge’s order that requires the federal government to fully fund food stamps in November after a federal appeals court declined to do so.

We Solve Critical Issues Like No Other Media in America

Issue: SOCIALISM VS FREEDOM

For decades, communist nations have systematically sought to subvert America, and now 51 percent* of Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 have a positive impression of socialism. Our freedoms are being increasingly encroached upon by socialist policies. Source: Gallup, August 2018

Solution: We systematically expose this communist subversion in an effort to free America, and the world, from it.

Issue: BROKEN TRADITIONAL VALUES

Freedom of religion and family values used to be seen as cornerstones of our nation. Socialist ideology is threatening these traditional American values, our families, and our culture.

Solution: In our journalism, we highlight the traditional values and morals that guided our nation’s Founding Fathers. We also explore classical arts and traditions, and uncover the connections among beauty, virtue, and self-refinement.
