Trump Pardons 2020 Alternate Electors, However State Prosecutions Could Continue

Ed Martin, President Donald Trump’s Weaponization Czar, announced on November 10 that Trump was issuing pardons for the 77 electors who submitted alternate Republican slates for him in the 2020 presidential election, along with several other defendants affiliated with them. State prosecutors charged alternate electors with crimes in four states, including Arizona. 

The other alternate Republican state electors included in the pardon were from Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

However, because Trump can only pardon defendants for federal offenses, the prosecutions may continue since they were initiated by state and local prosecutors bringing state charges.

• A man in Sierra Vista, Arizona, has been charged by Pennsylvania prosecutors with three counts of soliciting voter registrations, a misdemeanor.

• President Donald Trump on Nov. 11 defended his plan to offer 600,000 visas to Chinese students. ‘I want to see our school system thrive,’ the president said.

• Catholic bishops in the United States, on Nov. 12, backed a decision to officially ban transgender-related procedures—including surgical and hormonal interventions—in Catholic health care facilities.

• President Donald Trump issued a proclamation on Nov. 7 announcing “Anti-Communism Week,” which will commemorate the approximately 100 million victims who have lost their lives to communist political systems.
