Thousands of Protesters Attend ‘No Kings’ Rally at Arizona State Capitol

PHOENIX, Arizona - Thousands showed up at the “No Kings” rally at the Arizona State Capitol on Saturday to protest President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies. It was part of a coordinated nationwide series of over 2,600 rallies, including over 60 demonstrations in Arizona. Protesters described Trump’s policies as authoritarian power grabs similar to the rulings of a king.

Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, told the crowd she would fight the Trump administration if it deployed the National Guard to Arizona to counter violent ICE protesters like it did in Portland, Oregon. “We will stop that here in Arizona if they try it,” Mayes said.

Some criticized the older age demographic heavily present at the protests, but the attendees defended their age. According to The Republic, protester Denise Heinrich, 73, said, “Geezers, get out there and fight for your country. Everybody, every age. You’re not too old to resist.”
