The Ministers Lucid Moment

WMAL radio in Washington D.C. on Wednesday played a portion of a speech Minister Louis Farrakhan made at the Washington AME church in D.C.. In that speech which is linked here: Louis Farrakhan. he railed against the symbolism of banning this flag while doing nothing to correct the wrongs it represents . In his speech he mocked the banning of the confederate flag saying among other things I dont know what the hell the fight is about over the Confederate flag. We need to put the American flag down. Because weve caught as much hell under that as the Confederate flag".  He said Who are we fighting today? Its the people that carry the American flag." Farrakhan is of course 100 right. For all you hand wringing conservatives who couldnt wait to sign on to banning the confederate flag here is the natural extrapolation of giving in to this kind of hysteria just to assuage your white guilt. Now everyone who is offended by ANY symbol has a right to protest its existence and you should support them. Furthermore Farrakhan is right that more racial oppression occurred under the American flag than ever occurred under the Confederate flag. That is a demonstrable fact so you MUST agree with the good minister. Am I right?
How about the cross? The bible itself says the gospel is offensive. Shouldnt it be banned? The hammer and sickle? How many dear comrades had to die to satisfy Stalin Lenin Castro. etc. - thats pretty offensive. What about those Che Guevara shirts that are so popular with the socialist crowd? Think Amazon will pull those off the shelf? The star and crescent? gay pride flag? ISIS flag? I am sorry to see conservatives and Christians buy into the traditionally liberal idea of symbolism over substance where symbolic acts actually count for doing something. Farrakhan is right - they dont.
