Questions Arise About Sen. Ruben Gallego’s Close Friendship with Eric Swalwell, Who Resigned from Congress Over Rape Allegations

Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) is under scrutiny after his close friend Eric Swalwell resigned from Congress in response to multiple women coming forward accusing him of improper sexual behavior. Both Gallego and Swalwell are married.

The allegations include claims from a former aide who said Swalwell sexually assaulted her twice, once in 2019 and again in 2024, when she was too intoxicated to consent. On Tuesday, former model Lonna Drewes, held a press conference accusing Swalwell of drugging and raping her in a West Hollywood hotel room in 2018.

video surfaced on X showing Swalwell frolicking on a bed cuddling a young woman whose dress is pulled up to her underwear, who some claim is a sex worker, and another man participating who looks like Gallego. Several people attempted to determine whether there are photos elsewhere of Gallego wearing the shoes seen on the man.

George Santos, who was expelled from Congress for criminal activity, posted on X that he heard from staff and reporters on Capitol Hill that several members of Congress had behaved “in lewd or alleged sexual misconduct like behavior with staff or reporters.” He listed Swalwell, Gallego and 12 others. “During that time I learned about the activities taking place in the ‘cages’ which are the storage rooms in the basement of the House office buildings,” he said. “I reported it to House Admin Chair at the time Brian Steil and he did NOTHING.”
