Most people would agree that patriotism: love of country, and respect for our Constitution, and gratitude for the many who have died defending our liberty, is something we would want our children to have.
But sadly today, there seems much confusion about such a basic and healthy instinct. Patriot Pioneers LLC is launching a high school essay competition that challenges students in Prescott and Prescott Valley to examine patriotism across 250 years—from the founding
generation of 1776, through the America they inherited, to the future their generation will shape.
Open to grades 9–12, the contest asks young writers to produce an original 750–1,000-word essay exploring Arizona history and the meaning of patriotism today. Entries must be the student’s own work; AI use or plagiarism results in disqualification. The deadline is October 31, 2026, with winners announced by Thanksgiving.
We are seeking sponsors at three levels—Patriot ($100), Pioneer ($75), and Adventurer ($50)—from individuals, businesses, and organizations. One hundred percent of every contribution goes directly to cash prizes for winners and runners-up, plus support for future Patriot Pioneer community events.
This is more than a writing contest. It is an opportunity to recognize students who demonstrate independence of thought, historical understanding, and genuine commitment to the values that built and sustain our country.
In an era when many young people are disconnected from America’s founding principles, we want to reward those who take them seriously.
