Stephen Edward Alexander, 83, went to be with his loving Lord and Savior on May 13, where he joins his late wife Sandra Leah Alexander and eldest son Nathan Alexander. He died a week after being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.
Steve grew up in Orleans, Vermont, and graduated from the University of Vermont with degrees in History and Political Science. He joined the US. Army and served in South Korea for two years. During that time, he married Sandy, his childhood sweetheart, who spent the second year in Korea with him, where they lived with the Korean people.
After graduation from Boston College Law School, Steve moved West (with Sandy & Nathan) and clerked for a judge in Seattle. After his clerkship, he worked as a prosecutor and district court judge in Kitsap County. After his retirement from the law, Steve became Pastor of Charleston Baptist Church (now Charleston Bible Fellowship).
Steve and his family attended First Church (also known as First Presbyterian and Lincoln Avenue Bible Church) for many years. He served as church moderator and Sandy was the pianist and organist. The kids often joined Sandy with music: Rachel on violin, Andrew and Sarah singing, and Andrew on cello and Sarah on guitar.
Steve was a pillar in the community and always looked out for others. He was a frequent speaker at community events and always enjoyed assisting with the annual Martin Luther King Jr. prayer breakfast. Steve and Sandy were also very involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship.
He is survived by his loving wife Roberta Huff, three children; Rachel, Andrew, and Sarah Alexander, and granddaughters Elisa, Rylee and Finley. A memorial service is being planned for sometime in August.
