What Is Proposition 409?
Prop 409 would raise Maricopa County property taxes to fund:
A new 200-bed mental health hospital
Expand emergency and trauma services
Upgrade hospital buildings
The Total Cost to Homeowners
$898 million in new bonds
$474 million in interest
$1.37 BILLION total over 30 years
Homeowners would pay through higher property taxes — even as many are still paying off a similar 2014 bond of $935 million.
