Lawsuit Filed Against Former Senator Kyrsten Sinema Alleging Affair with Her Bodyguard Ruined His Marriage

Heather Ammel filed a lawsuit in North Carolina alleging that former Senator Kyrsten Sinema had an affair with her husband, Matthew Ammel, while he was Sinema’s bodyguard. The suit claimed that Sinema asked him on a work trip to take psychedelic substances. Ammel requested over $25,000 in damages, plus possible punitive damages, for breaking up their marriage.

Ammel said that her husband began working as a bodyguard for Sinema in 2022. In 2023, the head of security resigned, but told the bodyguard that she “had concerns Defendant was having sexual relations with other security members,” the complaint said. It said Ammel told his wife he was worried that a trip he took accompanying Sinema to Napa Valley “appeared as if they were on a romantic getaway.”

Ammel said she discovered text messages between Sinema and her husband on his Signal app. “The messages exceeded the bounds of a normal working relationship and were of romantic and lascivious nature.” She said she found a photo Sinema sent to him of her only wearing a towel. She said Sinema sent him a message that said she would “f*** the hot ones,” referring to either members of the military or baseball players.

Ammel said that her husband spent time in hotel rooms or overnight with Sinema, and that she paid for his psychedelic treatment. She accused her husband of buying psychedelic drugs illegally in Mexico.
