You have heard the story about John MacArthurs remarks regarding Beth Moore in mid-October. He had to say it with very few words and the words MacArthur choose to use were Go Home." I have to him credit for trying not to be cruel and/or mean about it but you know what? Maybe John MacArthur should have been a little more offending in this. After all the very Gospel of Jesus Christ in itself is quite offensive and many people think its cruel.
Also I want to say that this not about what women can and are doing outside the church itself. Even if has made greater impacts on culture over the years and creating what Betty Friedan called
The Feminine Mystique. This includes women like Rachel Alexander who directed me to IntellectualConservative.com (and is also the editor of James Robinsons Christian worldview news site
The Stream) and has allowed me to published my work their. I hope that what I am about to say does not cost me my privilege to write their. Rachel I am very grateful in your help to try get my work and places in which I can express my work.
(I interrupt this piece so I can tell you that I did run this piece by Rachel and while she does not agree with it she is allowing it to be published and kept up here at IntellectualConservative.com. According to Rachel It has a certain Conservative worldview and Rachel is open to certain various views in the conservative prism. She has made me aware of other writings however and I will look those over if able to)
That said the Christian Church under constant spiritual attack. Men and Women are equal in Christ but they are certain gender roles laid out in Holy Scripture and more often than not when those are challenged bad things to tend to follow.
Now that I have gotten those very things out of the way I can now say the very two words MacArthur should have used instead of Go Home." If I were MacArthur the two words I would have used would be Shut Up. Thats right; Shut Up Ladies the Bible commands it regarding their role in the church as laid out in 1 Corinthians 14:34. I think this is more than just cultural but rather a long term command.
Since the beginning of time their is a desire of women to challenge not only the authority of men even God himself. It goes back the Garden of Eden. Eve by Gods design was created to be a help mate someone to complement Adam and as a couple she and Adam would to procreate offspring so that more and human beings would be honoring and worshiping God and that very jealous God would be pleased. Adam would be Eves Lord and Master (no foolin) and Eve herself would be Adams humble servant. Satan decided to disrupt this and tempt Eve with power.
Eve got suckered and Adam not wanting to lose her decided to commit the sin as well. This is what Paul was pointed out in 1 Timothy 2:14. Back tracking to verses 9-12 in 1 Timothy 2 Paul also says that women need to learn in silence with all subjection coupled that women dress in modest clothing with lack of what we call these days bling and showing the heart of the humble servant. We can debate whether Adam was being lazy or was not paying attention or maybe Eve sneaked from her husband but either way Adam knew what was right...he just did not want to lose Eve...pure and simple.
This is not the forever single Paul this was Paul calling the game plan and the rules of game as put together by the God of Abraham. A womans kindness and mercy can be turned into a power struggle if not kept in check and thats what MacArthur is pointing out. Women do think with their feelings but sometimes those very feelings are not rooted in Gods Law but what they think is right in their eyes.
The biological role of child barring in Gods economy is a privileged for women. Their is also a bond that a mother will have that will forever be different than with the father.
Their are few things in
MacArthurs sermon I want to point that was not pointed out in the
Christian Post article (first published November 13 2019). The first is what God wants women to accomplish in his economy. That is to save themselves from the stigma of Eves fall in the garden. That is done by raising God Fearing children. Their are exceptions however (singleness and women who cant procreate).
MacArthur points to the culture of the day regarding head covering for women and why lack of hair on men is cool but not for women. He then directs to the present day and our fight to maintain and honor the gender differences men and women and how it is important to know who is a man and who is a woman. Certain people might have become Christians but have yet to truly move away from what the pagans in Rome were doing. All this ties into the need of the creation order and if their is a time to go back to creation order that time is now.
Looking at the congregation of MacArthurs church I dont see any woman being forced to dress like the women of the fictional distopia country of Gilead (
The Handmaids Tale). No not one. They are wearing what is seen as modest of our day and age.
Before you tell me about me not knowing women who are pastors I actually know of one family whos matriarch whos an Executive Pastor (not Senior/Lead Pastor) in one of the major churches in Colorado Springs and still consider her and her husband (who I befriended long before he met her) good friends. The wife I strongly believe to be a Godly mother and is truly seeking God and believes in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and yes I would come to her church from time to time when she is given the opportunity to do a sermon. Her church was emasculated long ago but I give them credit for moving away from what their former church body is heading for.
Now I shall speak to the Christian Churches that have continued to honor the complementary worldview (or the specific gender roles in the church). You really need to be firm on Gods creation order and the Gods ordained roles for men and women in the church. You are truly swimming against the tide not just against the macro world but certain elements of the Christian show as well...and not just mainline churches that have abandoned the Gospel just about altogether if not all the way. We have seen how the major secular pagan world in our age got emasculated now that is happening in the more center right/evangelical churches.
We dont know how long John MacArthur has left on Earth but it seems he will continue to pastor until God calls him home. Younger men that hold to a complementary worldview for the Christian church must truly man up and take their role as men seriously. They must be fearful of God first and foremost and not fear their wives. The men must put things on track and not be afraid of telling their women off if they are challenging not only their authority but that of God. Does that mean men are perfect? No they are fair game to falling into sin as much as the women. Still their is a structure of the family unit that God created.
Men=Lead Feed Protect Provide
Women=Support and Nurture
Children=Obey the authority of Adults
Their is a place for individualism and their is place collectivism and conformity. One of things that women sure and must conform to is the submission to her husband and becoming part of his family...and includes taking his surname...that too is a sign of being a humble servant of your husband. I am in total agreement with MacArthur about womens empowerment in the church. It truly is a trade off...or eventually it will be.
Now for the husbands. Yes they need to love their wives and not taken them for granted and certainly not float further and further out into space. They have their responsibility as well. Thats not including trying to make android duplicates of Stella Mudd or the wives of Stepford Connecticut. Oh on the former bad men could wind up with
500 gynoids talking them down and no way of stopping their endless verbal attacks on their pathetic husband.
Everybodys got it? Now I think we can say as God fearing men to the women who dare challenge Gods order of things in the church.
Ladies Shut Up!-1 Corinthians 14:35
How about it Johnny Mac can you say that in your pulpit? Same goes for all other Pastors Church Elders and Deacons.
