Eberstadt also authored another book Adam and Eve After the Pill in which she defines the Sexual Revolution as the ongoing destigmatization of all varieties of nonmarital sexual activity accompanied by a sharp rise in such sexual activity." According to Adams the end result is reflected within the smug countenances of these individuals: indeed the confidence of its advocates in their victory is so great that they no longer talk of live and let live but rather demand that everyone affirm and celebrate even directly participate in this newly defined fluid institution and the perverse sexuality on which it is all based. In terms of attitudes nontraditional family structures whereby children grow up without one parent or either are now normalized and no longer stigmatized. For example public libraries host drag queen story hours for young children who are (perhaps as a result) transitioned psychologically into a gender discordant with their biological sex at younger ages because they are groomed from a young age in grade school in the name tolerance to celebrate diversity with regard to sexual matters. The world of 2019 is a far cry from that of the Victorian Age or what some claim in America to be The Gilded Age. Far from merely the time where the robber barons rose to such power through their wealth as to rival the federal government in both influence and power there was the tale of one Anthony Comstock an anti-vice activist United States Postal Inspector and secretary of the New York Society for the Suppression of Vice; and in some sense Americas greatest champion (and for me a tragic hero) for upholding Victorian morality. His fame (or infamy if you are a feminist or homosexual) emerged in his relentless war to rid the country of broadly-defined obscene literature gambling prostitution and quack medicine. His impact is such that he received no fewer than two descriptors ― comstockery and comstockism ― used to refer to his extensive campaigns to censor materials that he considered anything even remotely discussing sex publicly including birth control advertised or sent by mail or how he used the power through his position in the Postal Service and the NYSSV (in association with New York police) to make numerous arrests on charges associated with obscenity and gambling. Of particular note were advertisements for abortifacients found in penny papers which offered pills to women to treat for the obstruction of their monthly periods while some anatomy textbooks were prohibited from being sent to medical students by the United States Postal Service. Openly fancying himself as the weeder in Gods garden Comstock had numerous enemies during his career Comstock clashed with Americas first two militant feminists Emma Goldman and Margaret Sanger with the former in her autobiography referring to Comstock as the leader of Americas moral eunuchs. Before his death Comstock attracted the attention of a young law student the future chief of the FBI J. Edgar Hoover who was interested in his causes and methods. In his later years his health was ill-affected by a severe blow to the head from a tolerant anonymous attacker.

Major parts of the Comstock acts hinge on definitions particularly of obscenity which the courts originally adopted based on the British Hicklin test. By 1957 however an American test was put into place in Roth v. United States in which it was determined that obscenity was material whose dominant theme taken as a whole appeals to the prurient interest" to the average person applying contemporary community standards and was utterly without redeeming social importance. Thus the laws inspired by him did significantly penalize birth control information for all uses given that Comstock (and others) thought that contraceptives (and information about them) would be used (or misused) by young people for premarital sex (then correctly considered to be wrong and immoral by most people). According to Paul R. Abramson the widespread availability of pornography during the Civil War (18611865) launched perhaps Americas first major anti-pornography movement which culminated in the passage of the Comstock Act in 1873 but which also dealt with birth control and abortion issues as these alongside prostitution are undoubtedly interconnected. By 1957 three years before approval of The Pill Comstock was terminated just before the Roth v. United States court case which defined obscenity laws as anything that appealed to the prurient interest of the consumer. In a similar case Alberts v. California David Alberts ran a mail-order business from Los Angeles and was convicted under a Californian statute for publishing pictures of nude and scantily-clad women. The Supreme Court confirmed the conviction and affirmed the Roth test.
Under the Comstock laws postal inspectors can bar obscene content from the mail at any time thus having a huge impact on publishers of magazines. In One Inc. v. Olesen (1958) which followed up on Roth the Supreme Court granted free press rights around homosexuality though they banned the distribution of sex education information based on the premise that it was obscene and led to promiscuous behavior. Consistent throughout his years in power as the chief proprietor of the law many of Comstocks justifications revolved around the effects that all of the obscene literature would have on children arguing that the corruption in the schools and in the home were because of all of the obscene literature that the youth had easy access to that the vast amounts of obscenity would cause for the sanctity of marriage to be corrupted along with the power of the church. They were furthermore argued that they would help prevent illicit sexual relations between unmarried persons since without contraception the unmarried would be deterred from having sex due to the possibility of undesired pregnancy.
When the Birth Control Movement in the mid 1920s was attempting to get Congress to eliminate birth control restrictions from the federal Comstock laws Mary Dennett (the author of Birth Control Laws ... 1926) interviewed a (non-typical) congressman who strongly supported retention of the birth control restrictions in the Comstock laws and who replied in putting platform in avoiding any use of the words sex or pregnancy this way: Think how it would be that night when the young girl goes out with the boy and she cant help thinking what difference will it make if nothing ever shows? And then she will forget all about character and will let herself go whereas if she was afraid of the practical results she wouldnt. Yes there are thousands of girls that are held back just that way. Finally with regards to older never-married women having sex with contraception the same congressman talking about a group of women clerks whose housing was visible through his office window: a lot of them are confirmed old maids too but I wouldnt trust what would happen to them if they all knew they could do what they pleased and no one would be the wiser." Another man Father Charles Coughlin a famous radio priest argued before a congressional committee in 1934 that even the use of contraception by a married couple was wrong that non-productive sex is legalized prostitution ― a point of contention that feminists do not deny given they openly endorse the opportunities and power which sex provides over the most powerful men in the world. The golden age of the 1920s that featured the rise of flapper girls in high society (and subsequent stock market crash in 1929) or the 1953 release of the revolutionary Playboy magazine featuring the cover centerfold of a young Marilyn Monroe by Hugh Hefner led to the rise of Elvis Presley and his controversial gyrating hips rock n roll and more permissive behaviors that clashed with the egregious unrealistic utopian ideals of Middle America televised in Leave It To Beaver Father Knows Best and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. The 1950s indeed were about to throw out all conventional wisdom and morality with the bathwater. Eventually even the baby would be included as a tool more to conceal the moral abomination of not simply the act of illicit or taboo sexual practices (be they extramarital rape or more culturally taboo categories such as incest) but to eliminate the human need for empathy by way of the inhibitions attributed to guilt or modesty.

Conclusions: The Sexual Revolutions Legacy and What Might Fill the Vacuum In Its Wake
Now fast-forward to 2019. Nearly 60 years after the release of The Pill many women are angry with the harmful physical and psychological effects of the magic pill with abortion as its backup as the technological base delinking sex from procreation and children (and so from marriage and family) on their bodies their sexuality and their relationships. As for abortion the Supreme Court far from settling the matter with Roe v. Wade gave rise to a pro-life movement that became the largest civil rights struggle of our time a movement primarily of younger women to protect the right of children to not be killed in the womb. The euphemisms about reproductive health and choice for promoting the right to kill the most innocent and vulnerable appear increasingly bogus and self-serving in the face of undeniable scientific evidence about the beginning of human life at conception. The near-hysterical efforts of liberal elites in the media and Democratic Party to suppress even discussion and debate about the reality of abortion has failed to stem the advance of the pro-life movement; rather it has strengthened in both its intensity and in acceleration the more they deny the truth. The compelling film Unplanned (2019) showed the reality of abortion and of its biggest provider Planned Parenthood in a way that survived all attempts to discredit and suppress it. When Amazon made the film available as a DVD it became its number one selling item. Yet one troubling point remains and is perhaps the most devastating: the demoralization of sound Christian doctrine compounded by the recent scandals involving the molestation and trafficking of young boys by the most high-ranked clergy in an increasingly-permissive Roman Catholic Church. Highlighting a point by former CIA agent Kevin Shipp the Left have three goals: First to change the Constitution into a living document and change the First and Second Amendments. Second to target Christians because they believe Christianity underlies the Constitution" And on the basis of the first themes their third and final objective is to destroy the founding principles of America itself. He found rapid and substantial change throughout American society but little sign of the coming religious revival in response to the excesses of sexual revolutionaries. Instead he suggests Christians are accommodating the sexual revolution rather than resisting it ― in part due to fears that the government will shut down the church under statutes reflective of Communist Chinas.
But one conclusion seems obvious: permissive sexual attitudes and practices have not stimulated the religious revival many Christians claim the Sexual Revolution will yet yield. I see no evidence of it. On the contrary: Christians seem to grow more complicitor at least more quiet about their misgivingsby the year."

Cicillines call to action (and many others like him who are also depraved) the Democrats who through the High Court ruled in favor of decriminalizing same-sex marriage in Obergefell v. Hodges (2015) are expanding their mad ideology into a new frontier. Its unknown how much (or if) the Chinese government inspired their newest attacks on both religious liberty and gender identity but it recently removed the First Commandment featured in Exodus 23:3 (You shall have no other gods before me"). The reason? The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) made it clear that Christianity could in fact be legal but only if the Bible includes passages which exalt Socialism with Chinese Characteristics above The Most High. Now America through the Democratic Party is attempting to follow Beijing towards legally erasing not only Christianity and religious institutions but gender identity itself in the name of equality and political correctness. Under the Democrats proposed Equality Act according to the Christian website Crosswalk Churches will no longer be able to hire someone based on their beliefs. What this means is that a church could not deny hiring someone because they are an Atheist or because they live a life contradictory to the churchs beliefs." Also the Equality Act will prevent religious people from denying a service employment housing or public accommodations among other things to LGBT persons despite the fact that homosexuality contradicts their religious beliefs." This includes the growing controversial trend to allow transgender girls (formerly boys) to participate in girls sports and to use girls locker rooms and bathrooms in both public and private parochial schools. It should be noted too that private and parochial schools under Democratic leadership will face existential threats. Furthermore the Equality Act gives people of faith an ultimatum: Change your faith-based practices or face government punishment." Lastly scholarships for women grants for women business loans for women and restrooms for women among other things could legally be awarded to or used by men." In addressing these points in an interview with Fox News Doreen Denny the Senior Director of Government Relations for Concerned Women for America acknowledged that the Equality Act will erase not discrimination but its going to erase females because the sex of female will no longer be protected as a thing that you could claim as a separate category." As a result (and likely the only time) both conservative Christian organizations and liberal radical feminist organizations are banding together in protest of this change. The erasure of all religious liberties and gender identity will not stop the totalitarian nature of the Equality Act. For instance the Heritage Foundation warns that the bill will politicize the medical industry by intentionally creating conflicts with parents doctors and the government by allowing male students to enter female restrooms while also eliminating parental authority over their own children. No matter the age parents and physicians must yield to the childs wish for transgender operations and puberty blockers to be provided. House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) more grimly put it this way: Im not talking about 18 19 20-year-olds Im talking about 11 and 12-year-olds." The repercussions for parental opposition to similar bills according to Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) would reflect those under similar laws in individuals states such as Ohio where parents had their parental rights taken away from them because they refused to go along with giving hormone treatments to their teenage child." This vile increasingly violent militant blowback by the Left illustrates one thing: they know their agenda and time in the spotlight is short as the average person according to Hymomitz has come to understand that the sexual revolution made marriage harder to achieve and easier to dissolve increasing insecurity poverty and inequality in all strata. It reduced the life chances of low- and middle-income children with lower educational achievement and higher delinquency rates. So it is no doubt true why according to Adams all societies regulate sex. Those that thrive do so with relatively strict mores laws and social and religious sanctions. When sexual morality is loosened up too much or for too long societies give way to internal and external forces such as religious awakening or foreign invasionforces that sweep away lax and licentious ways. before imposing once again stricter moral standards sometimes even tyranny. Thus the human spirit society even our culture like with economics will self-correct. But it may not turn out in the wash the way wed hope or like.
