Bye, bye Miss American Pie…
The Fourth of July—Independence Day—felt very odd and unsettling to me in 2020. On the surface, things seemed normal. Where I live in Will County, Illinois, people were shooting off fireworks like they always do, and some people on my block had yard parties with friends. That was all good and encouraging. We’re not all cowering inside our homes in fear wearing wrappings around our heads in Will County, like they are in our neighbor to the north, communist Cook County. I was also encouraged by the excellent speeches that President Trump made on July 3 and July 4. Finally, someone stood up strongly, boldly, and proudly for American history and American culture, which have been under viscous attack by the enemies within. Nevertheless, many brainwashed Americans—if they heard Trump’s words at all—undoubtedly viewed them as “racist” and “xenophobic” in these twisted times. Thus, I feel that the wider American picture these days remains bleak and depressing. In many ways, it seems to me like America died in 2020.
I know that people generally do not like to hear negative things, and I don’t like being so negative. I have lost friends because of my perceived negativity (which I think of as honesty). Conservatives have a tendency to be naturally eternally optimistic. They never see the big semi-tractor-trailer truck headed their way, until they are laying flattened in the middle of the road. By contrast, although I am a conservative/libertarian, I tend to be a pessimist, though I prefer the self-description of “realist.” It is part of my sensitive artistic temperament, I guess. I cannot help but see the world as it is (or at least as I think it is)—not as I wish it to be. Needless to say, my constant grounding in reality (other than when I escape by drinking too much) can be rather depressing.
All this year, I cannot seem to get myself out of a deep dark pit I have been in as a result of the spreading insanity in this country. And I need to call things as I see them. Somebody needs to speak the truth, because I hear only lies these days everywhere I turn. So, if you do not want to be exposed to my negativity, stop reading this essay now! But if you might be interested in hearing a brutally blunt perspective on the current pathological American condition, read on. Please keep in mind that the views I express here are mine and mine alone. They are not the views of anyone else associated with this fine website.
The nation’s assassination
The United States of America (“America”) was born 244 years ago, with a glorious, unprecedented proclamation of freedom and liberty. But for the past several decades, America has been increasingly struggling with cultural and societal pathologies of varying levels of severity, each of which has diminished its freedoms. The agents of pathology and the threats to America’s life—promulgated mainly by the Left—have been unrelenting and always growing in their forcefulness and determination to destroy and kill. Attempts to address the pathologies and to cure the patient—mainly by the Right—have been mostly weak, incompetent, and not serious. When a determined doctor (Trump) finally arrived on the scene in 2016, there was a brief sense of hope for the patient, who responded well and seemed to be getting better. But the agents of pathology reacted by fighting back with all their fury. It all came to a head in 2020. These agents of pathology became agents of murder—simultaneously unleashing multiple new attacks against the patient. The doctor was not prepared—and he had virtually no help from anyone. Everyone worked against him and his efforts. He seemed to become flummoxed, bewildered, and lost. Even the patient seemed uninterested in surviving anymore. In a shockingly short time since the arrival of the new threats, the patient, America, appeared to expire—breathe its last breath—purposefully killed by the Left, while the Right watched in silence.
Oh, there is still a country called the United States of America, but it is no longer really “America.” It is something else—though they haven’t yet given it a formal name (like “Greater CHOP” perhaps). As Mark Levin has long pointed out, the blatant disrespect for the U.S. Constitution by all levels of government and by both major political parties has made this a “post-Constitutional” era. But I would go further than that, to argue that we are now actually living in a post-America era.
How can America be “dead”?
I believe I can logically argue that America is dead, because most of the meaningful characteristics of the country—those aspects of society that had constituted the distinctness of America and of being an American—have been stripped away. Although these American characteristics have been in steady decline since at least the 1960s as a result of the ever-expanding power of government, the Left’s gradual takeover of every institution of society (government, media, education, academia, science, pop culture, sports, corporations, etc), and the American public’s willing surrender of individual liberty and responsibility, the year 2020 delivered the long-sought (by Leftists) combination of circumstances that served as the final death blow. It amounted to a “perfect storm” for the Left. But the Leftists did not simply get lucky in 2020. I think that they planned it all, right under the noses of the clueless Right.
How did this happen? I have my suspicions about how this happened. Allow me to share the following scenario, which I think is logical and plausible.
The final, ultimate push to assassinate America began right after the election of Donald Trump as president in 2016. It is impossible to exaggerate how much the election of this independent-minded outsider profoundly disturbed the corrupt political and government establishment in the United States, rattled the Leftist “deep state,” and worried the international socialist globalist order. Most disturbed of all was China, America’s main rival for the most powerful country on Earth. China was upset beyond words by Trump’s pro-America, anti-China rhetoric and actions. And since many countries of the world depend economically on China and share that communist dictatorship’s ideology to one extent or another, they took China’s side against the big bad MAGA man.
Trump had to be destroyed, in any way possible. But several attempts to destroy him failed—ranging from Russia collusion to impeachment to Stormy Daniels. Trump’s policies were creating a robust American economy, and as long as the economic good times continued, his supporters would never abandon him. So, it became obvious that an alternative strategy was needed to get rid of this anti-globalist, anti-socialist, America-first throwback. The plotters thus concluded that America’s economy and social fabric had to be thoroughly destroyed. A devastated and divided American society would be sure to turn its wrath against Trump—and certain to kick him out of the White House in November 2020 in favor of the China-controlled Democrat stooge.
Virus hysteria
There were three phases to this anti-America plot. The first phase involved China, European socialists, the United Nations, and the World Health Organization (WHO). The key aspect of this phase called for China to purposefully unleash a new virus on the world, but target it especially against the United States. The virus was basically just an influenza-like bug, but it was different enough that China knew it would panic the medical profession and deeply frighten the public. WHO made sure the new virus was carried into the United States before raising international alarms about it.
Irrational hysteria and fear over the new virus were whipped up by the socialist globalist fellow travelers in the American media, politics, and academia. The corrupt medical and scientific establishments exaggerated the dangers of the virus and the numbers of deaths caused by the virus.
As part of this hysteria, tinhorn tyrants in local and state governments required everyone to wear face masks, supposedly to protect people from the spread of the virus. In truth, the masks did nothing meaningful or effective. The real reason for the mask mandate was control over the population, using fear as a weapon to force the public to comply and obey. The mask was actually a muzzle. Through their success with this mandate, the government masters found much to their delight that it was surprisingly easy to control the behavior of Americans and get them to accept a “new normal” of diminished freedoms, based on hyped-up fear and scientific misinformation. But for those relatively few individuals who knew better, it was shocking and extremely disturbing to see how thoroughly Americans complied and obeyed, like good little sheep.
Such blind obedience to authority is not American. This is not America.
The local tyrants went further by banning all public gatherings. No bars, no clubs, no restaurants, no concerts, no sports, no church, no parties, no gatherings with family or friends, and certainly no protests against the restrictions. All these gatherings were made illegal in many areas of the country for extended periods, with threats of fines or jail for those who disobeyed. Freedom of assembly was outlawed. The pursuit of happiness was essentially outlawed.
Most Americans dutifully complied with barely a disgruntled word or curious question. That is not American. This is not America.
Economic destruction
Trump’s lack of scientific knowledge allowed him to totally get played by the academics and deep-state socialists. This unfortunate circumstance led to the second phase of the international socialist globalist plot—the shut-down of numerous businesses throughout the United States, plunging many Americans into dire conditions not experienced since the Great Depression. That stupid move alone doomed Trump’s chances for reelection. He did that to himself.
Millions of people lost their jobs. Many small businesses were permanently destroyed. But many big businesses went along with the official line justifying the shut-downs, the stay-at-home orders, and the virus hysteria. Many large corporations found a way to profit from the misery and tyranny. Each corporation, as they hawked its wares, sought to out-do the others by bragging about how socially responsible and “woke” they were to the “new normal.” This corporate tendency to make American dysfunction seem normal and even cool would get far worse and far more sickening in phase three of the plot.
Thus, private corporations became the willing and eager shills and propagandists for the Left. Crony capitalists for communist masters—just like in China.
Most Americans went along with all this—as if they possessed no ability to think for themselves, no strength of character, no acceptance of risk, and no desire to live free. All they seemed to have was a pure unquestioning obedience to authority. That is not American, and this is not America.
The lack of significant dissent told the Leftists that they could get away with much more. It was time for the third and final phase of the subversive plot to kill America.
Racial division
The plotters waited for a particular type of incident to happen. They knew it would not take long—considering that everyone today is walking around with a cell phone camera and making videos of everything. And so it happened. Someone made a video of a stupid white cop killing a black guy who had a long history of trouble with the law. Once posted on the Internet, the whole world apparently saw it within hours. Everyone was outraged by the injustice, which was said to be representative of “institutional racism.” Phase three of the assassinate-America plot was thus launched in spectacular fashion.
Within days, a subversive, racist, Marxist, America-hating, police-hating terrorist organization calling itself Black Lives Matter (BLM) became totally mainstream—embraced by almost all government figures, politicians, celebrities, and corporations. Big corporations even gave the radical group millions of dollars to promote its message.
Such pathological decadence demonstrated more clearly than anything before that the real America had been destroyed and replaced by some strange, sick, self-loathing entity that was so foreign in its basic characteristics that it resembled the real USA about as much as a cockroach resembles an eagle.
That is definitely not American, and this is definitely not America.
Some government authorities astonishingly proclaimed that the America-hating BLM agitators could protest and riot and destroy property and threaten people—with no consequences. State attorneys across the nation declared that the agitators were immune to prosecution for their activities. Moreover, public health officials miraculously stated that these rioters could not spread the virus and did not have to wear face masks—regardless of how large their gatherings were. By contrast, regular patriotic Americans were being fined and arrested for not wearing masks in grocery stores, and they were warned that any gatherings to protest their loss of freedoms or to show support for Trump were not allowed because they would spread the virus. This duplicity amounted to a complete scientific and sociological farce!
The BLM barbarians proceeded to destroy statues and monuments across the country that represented great figures and events in American history. They did this because they hated America and Western culture and—in their historical and cultural ignorance—sought to replace America with a third-world socialist/fascist hellhole. So, down came the statues of American heroes. First to fall were great figures of the rebellious Confederate States of America. But next to fall were the Union figures who fought against the Confederates. It was impossible to find logic in the destruction. Eventually all monuments to American history were targeted, if the monument honored anyone who was white.
Other than President Trump, few government officials spoke out against the destruction. Apparently, they were intimidated into silence by the mob. Or perhaps they did not care that America’s proud history was being erased. But then, can the leaders of a dead country be expected to care if statues of dead people from its dead past are being destroyed?
The America haters proceeded to win support from decadent local governments across the country for several outrageously illogical demands, including defunding and abolishing police forces and extracting money from white people to give to black people as “reparations” for slavery, which had been abolished in 1863! The main result of this insanity was the ripping apart of American society. America’s enemies and rivals rejoiced in the destruction. China. Russia. Iran. Their long-time calls of “Death to America” were now being echoed by Americans themselves! America was committing suicide for all the world to see. And, best of all, the suicide was being supported and funded by the greedy, capitalist American corporations—which were so self-centered, narcissistic, opportunistic, and ignorant that they were eagerly giving millions of dollars and advertising support to an organization—BLM—that intended to ultimately destroy them.
Every day brings a new insane episode in this sad soap opera called
The Decline and Fall of America. On July 3, I drove past a church in Joliet. I noticed that the church had removed the American flag from its flag pole. In its place, it had raised a BLM flag, as well as a gay rainbow flag. According to recent news, sports events, when they resume, are going to open with the “black national anthem.” What the hell is that? Is there also a “white national anthem” that I’m not aware of?
It is as if the Leftist lunatics who are making all the new rules are trying their damnedest to goad this country into a race war. (Charles Manson would be proud. That was his goal back in 1969.) The societal friction that they are purposefully causing is turning non-racist white people into racists, because they see that their own race is under attack. And it is only natural to want to defend yourself against attack and to lash out against your attackers.
It is clear to me that America is in state of collapse. In such a chaotic environment, Trump and the Republicans are surely headed for defeat in November 2020. Republicans have been virtually useless anyway. They are supposedly “in charge” now, but they are allowing all this BS to happen. After the Democrats take over everything (all they need is the White House and Senate; they have everything else now), and after they institute the radical Leftist agenda being pushed by their most vocal leaders, America will be fully turned into the third-world, anti-Western, Leftist entity of China’s greatest fantasies. We will end up like a satellite state of China. The Chinese are practical people. They found a way to turn their fantasies into reality.
After the Democrats get rid of their one remaining obstacle—Trump—eventually nothing “American” will be allowed to exist. If you think banning the Confederate battle flag was silly (because that flag represents regional pride and individual “rebel” liberty, not racism or slavery), wait until the communists/fascists ban the American flag, prevent the singing of the national anthem, topple the Washington Monument, and blow up Mount Rushmore. Do you think they will not try to do those things?
What can we do about this?
Are we headed for a race war? A new civil war? Some other kind of violent, bloody conflict between the different sides of this culture war—different sides that have nothing meaningful in common? There is no longer anything to unite Americans as a nation. So, isn’t formal division inevitable—perhaps even desirable?
After the way that the powerful deep-state forces and international establishment have destroyed the outsider Trump, it should now be clear that elections have become pointless and irrelevant. When the people finally reject the establishment and elect an outsider who can make a real difference, the establishment attacks and attacks and attacks until that person is thoroughly annihilated. That is why I have concluded that voting is a waste of time. The Leftists now control America so deeply that they win no matter who is elected. The Left even controls the U.S. military these days, as evidenced by the numerous attacks against Trump by present and former military figures.
Thus, the Left is firmly in charge of the government, the military, the media, education, academia, science, pop culture, sports, private corporations, and even the police in many places. Tell me, conservatives, how the hell do you think you are going to reverse that? Open your eyes and look clearly at what the country has become in 2020. We have lost the country. The game is over.
Conservatives have to constantly fight just to survive now. This very website has been repeatedly hacked by enemies of free speech and forced to change servers, at great expense to the operators. Were there any consequences for the hackers? No. Like the statue destroyers, the hackers got away with their crimes. That is because this is their country now. It is not our country anymore.
As of today, any radical crazy idea seems possible. Nothing is out of bounds now—no matter how insane it may have seemed a couple years ago, or a couple months ago. What plans do the Leftists have in store for us after they win in November? The possibilities are terrifying to contemplate. If you are conservative, you should be afraid. And you should be especially afraid if you are conservative, white, and straight.
I honestly don’t have any answers. I do not know what practical, effective actions conservatives can take to counter this dismal situation. We don’t have many options. The only thing I can think of is some kind of secession. But I don’t know how that would work today. I don’t think it could be a simple regional secession, like in 1861, because the enemy has infiltrated all geographical regions today. I am not a strategist or an organizer, so I cannot offer a plan on this. All I know is that it may be wise for the Right to organize some kind of secession to form a New America that is based on the original American Constitution and original American values of liberty. I don’t think there is an alternative, because the country is too far gone—too deeply, widely, and firmly in control of the Left. It is a terrible historic tragedy, but, if we are honest with ourselves, we must admit that this has become their country now. Therefore, if we don’t like it, we are the ones who have to find a way to escape, if we want to live in real freedom again.
If we do not take some kind of effective action, we have to accept living in a permanent Leftist tyranny with evermore increasing government restrictions on our rights and freedoms, as well as the potential for increasingly severe legal punishments for dissent and disobedience. Eventually, it may reach a point where we might as well live in China. And that, needless to say, was the goal of this international plot all along.
In this essay—with its admittedly highly negative attitude—I have tried to make my case of why I think America is no longer alive. I’m guessing that—if you are the typical eternally optimistic conservative—you do not accept my argument. You probably think that I am totally full of it, and that I need to “get a life.” In that case, there is nothing more I can say to you. But should you be the rare conservative who is at least open to considering my argument—and assuming that you do not like what the Leftist mob has done to your country—let me end this essay with some questions for you. I present these questions as options for action:
• Are you going to accept living in whatever this sick entity is that has replaced America?
• Are you going to fight to establish some kind of New America?
• Are you going to move to a different country, where your freedoms might be better protected? If so, where?
• Are you going to give up on the wider society, say “to hell with everybody,” and just stay focused on your own private life—ignoring the depressing and anger-inducing outside world as much as possible? (As of now, this is the less-than-ideal option that I am pursuing.)
• Are you going to pursue other options that I have not thought of?
Whatever the future holds—and whatever course of action might be taken to counter the current national disaster—I must note that the lyrics of the 1971 song “American Pie” (by Don McLean) seem more meaningful to me now than ever before:
