The 65 Project, a far-Left, dark money legal group that was formed to file bar complaints against President Donald Trump’s election attorneys, filed a complaint last week with New York’s Attorney Grievance Committee against a top attorney for President Donald Trump, Emil J. Bove III. Bove previously represented Trump in his private capacity as a partner in the law firm Blanche Law, and served as the Acting U.S. Deputy Attorney General with the DOJ while awaiting the confirmation of Todd Blanche. Blanche is the founding partner of BlancheLaw. Bove is now a Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General.
The 65 Project, named after 65 lawsuits that were filed challenging corruption in the 2020 election, complained about four aspects of Bove’s legal work for Trump. First, they criticized his dismissals of the Biden administration’s indictments against New York City Mayor Eric Adams over alleged campaign contributions from foreign nationals. Second, the group claimed that Bove engaged in “retaliation” against staff at the DOJ and FBI over their prosecutions of Trump. Third, they cited his statements warning state and local officials to stop thwarting Trump’s illegal immigration orders. Fourth, they demanded the committee investigate Bove’s private representation of Trump in the prosecution lawfare against him.
The Biden administration claimed that Adams accepted bribes from Turkish officials in exchange for luxury travel. Adams maintained his innocence, and said through his attorney that his travel on Turkish Airlines came while he was Brooklyn borough president, which was years before he became mayor, and there was no quid pro quo. Prosecutors also alleged that he pressured the city Fire Department as mayor-elect to approve the opening of a Turkish consular building without a fire inspection. However, the complaint cited no evidence of a quid pro quo.
Many believe the Biden administration targeted Adams, a Democrat, over his criticisms of its policies on illegal immigration, which resulted in flooding New York City with violent illegal immigrants.
