Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard released declassified documents revealing “overwhelming evidence” that former President Barack Obama engaged in a “treasonous conspiracy” with members of his intelligence agencies against President Donald Trump.
She said the Obama administration found no evidence that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump, but shortly after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, based on the now-discredited Steele dossier, officials started claiming Russia engaged in successful cyber attacks. Gabbard stated she was referring the matter to the Department of Justice for investigation.
“The information we are releasing today clearly shows there was a treasonous conspiracy in 2016 committed by officials at the highest level of our government,” Gabbard said in a news release titled “New Evidence of Obama Administration Conspiracy to Subvert President Trump’s 2016 Victory and Presidency.” “Their goal was to subvert the will of the American people and enact what was essentially a years-long coup with the objective of trying to usurp the President from fulfilling the mandate bestowed upon him by the American people.”
On Wednesday, Gabbard posted on X that it was “the most egregious weaponization and politicization of intelligence in American history.” She said it was done to delegitimize Trump’s transition to the presidency, inciting public unrest and provoking resistance against his incoming administration. Several radical groups, including DisruptJ20, engaged in violence at Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2017. Prosecutors charged 217 people with felony rioting, and some were charged with more serious felonies such as assaulting police officers.
