On Mark Levins radio program he brought up a
Supreme Court Case from 1964 that ruled in favor of The New York Times and against the Montgomery Alabama Public Safety commissioner at the time L. B. Sullivan. Sullivan sued the New York Times over
an advertisement that was sponsored by the Committee to Defend Martin Luther King and the Struggle for Freedom in the South." The intent of this ad was to get to attract attention and support of emerging civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. King was facing a felony charge of perjury and if he was convicted he could have faced a lengthy prison sentence.
In the ad it was said that civil rights activists were being harassed by the local police with shot guns and tear gas and that the dinning hall was padlocked in an attempt to starve them into submission. All this in the freezing weather. The ad claimed that King was arrested seven times when he was only arrested four times and described other misbehaviors of the Montgomery Police.
While the struggle was real this group of civil rights activists indeed were stretching the truth about what was going on in order to get the general public aroused and act accordingly. While Sullivan was not called out in the ad he felt to need to protect the officers under him whos reputations were put on the line. So he filed a lawsuit against The New York Times at the state court levels and won. The Gray Lady however (and truth of the matter any loser at the lower court for that matter) took took the case all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) and thanks to their 9 to zip decision proving liable and/or slander against a public figure became difficult and challenging to prove.
Our media which has long been in the tank for the Democratic Party and big fans of the Kennedy clan (along with the Clintons and Obamas); slowly over time would become a organization of organizations that could advocate for the progressive cause and should anyone dare challenge that agenda they could twist libel and slander...and nine times out of ten...basically get away with it.
Jay Rosen a writer media critic and a professor of journalism at New York University; was a early advocate of citizen journalism and encouraging the press to have an active interest in citizenship improving public debate and enhancing life. Rosen however is also an advocate for civil journalism in which in reality is advocacy journalism supporting the greater progressive movement its causes and masterminds past and present. Rosen learned his lessons from psychologist and educational social engineer John Dewey quite well and calls for a press that advocates for social change...even if the changes actually hurt the society but as long as progressivism prevails.
With a press that defended the agenda of the more open socialist and Alinsky disciple Barack Obama they felt that the people would accept Hillary Clinton as a shoe in and thought Donald Trump was a joke candidate. But the media like Wild E. Coyote felt the sting of backfires and the many big cliff falls and now the media is really seeking vengeance and wants to defeat Trump in 2020. Unlike Wild E the media does have a chance of catching their real life Road Runner of sorts (President Trump) and putting America back on the path of moving Forward" towards full blown communist socialist statism of somekind. Our media is really taking the hints of of Rosen and Dewey to heart and going no holds barred on advancing not only the Democratic Party but the progressive agenda coupled with the support of progressive personalities and worldview. Clinton was the progressives great hope of a permanent progressive government and Trump was a set back to that great scheme final goal.
Still Levin feels that NYTvSullivan was another court decision that was decided wrong for it gave the media much protection to slander and libel anyone they hated and wanted to take out for their greater agenda.

he did make a very good point on his Your World" broadcast on FNC;
My job is to cover you not fawn over you or rip you just report on you to call balls and strikes on you. My job Mr. President our job here is to keep the scores not settle scores...Youre right to say the media isnt fair to you; that theyre more inclined to report the bad than anything good about you. So it is no surprise youre frustrated that more arent in line with you and that everyone at Fox might not be in lockstep with you. You might even think that those who are work for you. They dont. I dont. Hard as it is to fathom Mr. President just because youre the leader of the free world doesnt entitle you to a free pass; unfortunately just a free press.
In reality we really dont have a free press even if Cavuto is correct IN PRINCIPLE. Knowing Levin I think he would oppose NYTvSullivan in principle but part of him wants to oppose it because of the medias agressive attacks on President Trump. If it were not for the election of President Trump I think more than not; we would not have his latest book Unfreedom of the Press" or if we did get it...it would be somewhat different for sure.
For now we have a partisan press and as such we as conservatives need to step up and counter punch the Democratic Party press any chance we get. Hate Fox News? Agree with Trump? Not Conservative Enough to your liking? Well their are choices.
One America News Network or OAN is a growing news channel that is not only conservative but is supportive of Trump. It is the home of Liz Wheelers news/commentary program Tipping Point and Wheeler was just interviewed recently on Ben Shaprios weekly Firing Line styled program (Ben Shaprio Special) at dailywire.com.

Maybe its time to take back the press and fight the pro Democratic Party Press in the way they have fought us. That includes using satire scorn and a ongoing mockery and demoralization those who would steal our liberties and freedom in name of taking care of us. They have done the same thing to us in order to advance their wickedness.
Like I always said; War Is The Answer and the progressive left is a cancer. A cancer that will not only enslave us but even destroy us if not defeated. History has proven this. Progressivism has gone under different names but the agenda remains the same...more power less freedom.
