Controversy Continues During Second Day at Turning Point USA’s Annual AmericaFest

The second day of Turning Point USA’s (TPUSA) annual AmericaFest conference featured more sparks and controversy similar to the first day. Talk show host and legal pundit Megyn Kelly addressed criticism of her by talk show host and commentator Ben Shapiro the previous day. Shapiro criticized her for not publicly condemning political commentator Candace Owens, who has been accused of spreading conspiracy theories about TPUSA.

“Nobody knew who the heck Ben Shapiro was when I started putting him on my shows on the Fox News Channel, and I helped make him a star,” Kelly said. “Ben and I, he had the nerve to call me a friend right before he called me a despicable coward for not calling out the people he once called out.”

“So he both wants to parent me and be my child. He wants to tell me what I have to do and who I have to say what to and then when I don’t. He and some of his friends want to act like other victims, because I won’t do what they say.”

Kelly revealed details about a meeting between Owens and TPUSA CEO Erika Kirk, the widow of the late TPUSA CEO and co-founder Charlie Kirk who was assassinated. “By all accounts from both women had a very good meeting,” she told the audience. “Now, where does it go from here? I was joking earlier like, what’s more tenuous, the Gaza peace deal or this situation?” Kelly said she does not believe others were involved with Kirk’s assassination, only Tyler Robinson, referencing a claim by Owens.
