America has the highest distrust of the news media in the world and an open letter to Norah O'Donnell

Rick Edmonds of the Poynter Institute (a non-profit journalism school and research organization located in St. Petersburg, Florida who also owns the daily newspaper, the Tampa Bay Times) reported on the mistrust of media in the world and to the common conservative in America it’s no surprise.  America is tops when it comes to mistrust of the news media…or dead last if that make the Jim Acostas of the world feel better…just a little.

Only 29 percent of Americans trust the news media, while the news media in Finland has the highest trust in world with 65 precent.  Finland’s neighbors Sweden and Norway have a trust factor around 50 and 57 percent respectfully.  Germany’s trust in their media is at 53 percent while the UK is at 38 precent.  In the east, Japan’s trust of media is at 42 precent, Hong Kong is at 40 precent, India is at 38 percent, the Philippines is at 32 percent, Taiwan is at 31 precent and South Korea is at 32.

Of course, America has seen alternative forms of media grow in recent years and those who call themselves conservatives gravitate to those media outlets before they would ever turn to any major media outlet in America.  Now has the major media taken these statics into account and acted accordingly?  Sadly, the answer is no, and they continue to double down as they promote themselves to be objective, fair and balanced…thinking that the masses never heard of journalism professor Jay Rosen and his call for advocacy in the respected profession (Rosen has call it public/civic journalism), or the fact that the father of progressive education is also the father of modern journalism… That’s Right!  None other than John Dewey himself.

Just recently the membership only retail chain Costco did a soft interview with current CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell for their Costco Connection magazine.  A rag that is free for faithful Costco members.  O’Donnell especially doubles down, protecting the greatness (if any) of her employer.  In reality CBS News, especially their flagship program which O’Donnell anchors, has been in freefall ever since Dan Rather succeeded the charismatic Walter Cronkite in 1981.  In spite of two attempts to have female anchors (Connie Chung sharing the chair with Rather in the early 1990’s, and Katie ‘Cookie Cutter’ Couric in the late 2000’s), the CBS Evening News has yet to have some kind of rebound against ABC News and NBC News regarding the evening news program…in spite of the direct competition just as much in bed with the Democrats and the progressive left as CBS is.  O’Donnell however, gives CBS the best PR that she can give (besides, she paid her dues on CBS This Morning (2.0));

I think this makes CBS Evening News more important than ever. We are a fact-based, neutral broadcast that relies on the support and trust of our audience, no matter their political beliefs or ideology. That’s why everyone from Congressman Steve Scalise, who is one of the most conservative members in the U.S. House of Representatives, to President Joe Biden, has done interviews with me.

Some channels out there are interested in affirmation. We’re interested in information. My job is to make sure that people trust that I’m a fair journalist. I may ask tough questions, but they are fair questions.

Now from this point forward this becomes an open letter to Miss. O’Donnell.

Dear Norah, I can’t speak for Scalise, but some of not most on our side on the political and cultural aisle, have the guts to walk into the lion’s den and deal with someone who is hungry and wants to make a meal out of conservatives (like yourself Miss. O’Donnell) with a game plan to come out unharmed more/less…just like Daniel many moons ago.

Now I want to talk about that crack you made about channels interested in affirmation.  Is our beloved Earth blocking the view of Venus (joke)?  Seriously Madam, are you just trying to take pot shots at Fox News, and other media outlets that don’t hold up the progressive worldview?  Is that what you mean lady?  You can fool some of the people some of time, but you will not play me or most conservatives as fools…especially the Media Research Center…Yes Norah, we are on to you, hands down.

You were pleading to the great Lord Schumer of New York State, to do what he could do within his own power to bork Brett Kavanaugh.  I submit there is no cause for any REAL worry Norah now that Kavanaugh is on the Supreme Court, but that is another piece.  Back when you worked for NBC News (which included not only reporting on the main NBC network but also cable channel sister MSNBC) you said the following to Patrick J. Buchanan

Did it ever occur to you, Pat, that maybe there weren’t any white men who were qualified?

Really Norah, did you really have to bash the white Christian man (and everyone else who is in league with him…in reality trying to conserve the republic from bad ideals of the progressive leftist radicals)?  This is how you get all the minorties in this country to coral into the Progressive cult.  Come on Norah, admit that you got some of your lessons from Professor Jay Rosen, and like any good leftist you needed your shot to take down Rush Limbaugh (using then Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana in order to accomplish the challenging task) which you also did during your time at NBC News.

He [Limbaugh] has said, ‘I hope he fails,’ talking about President Obama. And Rush Limbaugh also said this, he said ‘we are being told that we have to hope Obama succeeds, that we have to bend over, grab the ankles, bend over forward, backward, whichever, because his father was black, because this was the first black President.’ Do you agree with Rush Limbaugh?...On that specific thing, that, ‘we have to bend over because this is the first black President,’ why don’t you feel like you could denounce something like that? Are you so beholden to someone like Rush Limbaugh that you can't say that?...Is that the type of rhetoric we need?

You know darn well what Rush meant Norah, but like any other leftist you want to twist the words so that most people would turn against Rush Limbaugh and then getting in line of watching the back of President #44 (Obama) believing that the later had the best interests of America at heart.  Our media really circled the wagons for what some have called an Affirmative Action President…and then some…you were no different Norah…and you are still the same today.

But yet, being the smug broadcast journalist that you are, you now sit in the chair (more/less) that your idol Walter Cronkite used to sit in.  You want the title of the “Most Trusted Woman in America.”  Listen lady, you will never earn that title of “Most Trusted Woman in America” (neither did Chung or Couric) and people like me will make sure that you don’t EVER get it…a title that Uncle Walt should have never earned…but he and his profession basically drowned the voices (politically kids) of their decenters.

You, Norah O’Donnell, are part of the reason why trust in the media is at an all time low in America…you still push the progressive agenda along with way too many of your peers.

Signed, Don McCullen.
