Agriculture Secretary Denounces ‘Lawfare’ Against Arizona Rancher from ‘Radical Green Energy Scams’

The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, denounced “lawfare” against Arizona rancher Casey Murph and his family. She said on X on Tuesday that Murph, a fifth-generation rancher, is facing eviction from his large cattle ranch if the State of Arizona “chooses to cancel his state grazing lease to allow an industrial-scale solar company to blanket the land with unreliable solar panels.” 
 

“The President and our administration have been clear: we’re not letting radical green energy scams steamroll our ranchers, our beef supply, or our way of life — and we are on top of this,” Rollins continued. She said she will be “DIGGING IN” and has his back. 

According to Unwon, Denmark green energy company Orsted contacted Murph about getting access through some locked gates to survey land. Murph does not believe the company realized they were speaking with the owner of land they intended to seize, and were candid with him about their optimism of getting the land.

Murph announced the proposed project last month on X. “I just received a notification that @Orsted has made a move to evict my cattle from several sections of land within our AZ state allotment,” he said. Murph included a post by Orsted in 2024 announcing the launch of its “Eleven Mile Solar Center” in Pinal County. A hundred people commented after Orsted’s announcement, largely opposing the project.
